SELECTIONS FROM THE JOURNALS OF FERNANDO BRAVO

The work is a rumination of a dip along Whittier Boulevard in Boyle Heights. The dip is a moment of a long fissure running north to south, from the southeast corner of the Evergreen Cemetery and flattening out on 8th Street, somewhere near the middle of the Wyvernwood Garden Apartments. One can imagine it being a creek, a small tributary to the Los Angeles River. The segment of the fissure I am thinking about was filled in, covered up, and segmented by the 60 and 5 freeways.
